AltSchool Africa, an edtech learning platform, has introduced a $30 (N45,000) nano-diploma program for young Africans to learn high-demand skills like Product Management, Customer Communication, Content Creation, Photography, Videography, and Creative Business.
The nano-Diploma program is a new series of short, intensive, and affordable courses designed to equip millions of Africans with the digital skills needed to thrive in the future of work and strategically lower the barrier to entry for digital literacy.
“We want to tell 10 million Africans that it is possible. We’re not just a tech school, we are an alternative school bringing meaning back to the word ‘school,” Adewale Yusuf, CEO of AltSchool Africa, said.
He added that, “AI will take most jobs, but what will remain are human-centred skills: content creation, communication, creativity. We want to put a school in your pocket, giving everyone the chance to build those skills and unlock new opportunities.”
With programs priced at just $30 (approximately ₦45,000), the nano-diploma program is set to deliver high-impact, real-world education that learners can complete in as little as 4–8 weeks, with the flexibility of self-paced, on-demand learning accessible from any device.

According to the organisation, each nano-diploma course is designed for immediate career impact, coming with a verified AltSchool certificate, industry-relevant projects, and a focus on practical application over theory. Prospective learners can preview curricula, watch intro videos, and start learning within minutes. There are no entrance exams or long applications to navigate.
The platform’s design prioritises accessibility for its target demographic across the continent. Financial barriers are addressed through multicurrency payment support across Africa, including local currencies and mobile money options in Nigeria, Ghana, and Kenya.
Learning support is radically enhanced by “Alti,” an AI-powered learning assistant that is context-aware. Alti helps students by summarising topics, generating flashcards and quizzes, and tailoring study paths based on individual learner goals, providing a personalised experience at scale.

Recognising the infrastructure challenges faced by many learners, the platform also offers offline access and translation tools to effectively serve non-English speakers and students in low-connectivity areas.
Furthermore, the structure of the nano-diplomas directly responds to real user feedback. AltSchool has simplified course structures, enhanced support, and expanded its offerings to include both hard skills like cybersecurity and data as well as soft skills like communication and job readiness, ensuring graduates are well-rounded and prepared for the modern workplace.
