Authorities including those from the UK, Angola, and Zambia, were pivotal in these operations. INTERPOL's Operation Serengeti and Eurojust's European endeavors highlight globally synchronized efforts combating fraudulent crypto activities.
Immediate effects encompass the recovery of over USD 97.4 million and the disruption of numerous malicious infrastructures. Nearly 11,432 illicit setups linked to mining were dismantled, impacting the cryptocurrency market landscape significantly.
Financial implications of these actions are extensive, with USD 300 million linked to crypto fraud in Zambia alone. Technological outcomes suggest a possible decline in mining activities in regions affected by equipment seizures. These operations showcase an increased regulatory effort and cross-border cooperation in tackling cybercrime. Future trends may include more collaborative crypto crime-fighting initiatives globally.
