D3 Global, a pioneer in DomainFi infrastructure, today announced two groundbreaking applications on Doma, introducing end-to-end DomainFi capabilities that enable users to own, tokenize, and trade internet domains on Doma Protocol. The launch includes Mizu, a revolutionary DeFi platform for fractionalized domain trading, and Interstellar, a next-generation domain marketplace that bridges traditional DNS domains with Web3 ecosystems.
This milestone represents a paradigm shift in unlocking the potential of domains as digital assets. For the first time, domains can now realize their full DeFi potential without compromising the underlying DNS compliance and value of the asset – a core differentiator that sets Doma apart from other tokenization approaches in the marketplace. Doma Protocol is a purpose-built blockchain that acts as a bridge to onramp for 364 million internet domains to Web3 ecosystems, turning illiquid domains into programmable, yield-generating assets.
Mizu: Where Domains Meet DeFi Liquidity & Trading
Mizu transforms how domain assets are traded by enabling tokenized domains on Doma to be fractionalized and launched for initial liquidity and trading. Mizu’s innovative DeFi platform allows domain owners to unlock liquidity from previously illiquid domains, while providing Web3 traders and investors access to a massive new real-world asset (RWA) class. Traders can provide liquidity, earn yields, or speculate on domain value appreciation – all onchain and in real-time.

"Mizu represents a step-function evolution of domain trading from static marketplaces to dynamic DeFi ecosystems," said Michael Ho, Chief Business Officer & Co-Founder, D3. "Premium domains are among the most valuable internet real estate assets, and now they can be traded with the same liquidity and accessibility as tokenized equities on platforms like Robinhood."

Beyond fractional ownership, Mizu treats domains as fungible assets with trading characteristics akin to tokenized equities. This has substantial implications for the domain industry:

For Domain Investors: Premium domain portfolios can be tokenized and bridged effortlessly to ecosystems like Solana, Base, and Avalanche, unlocking utility across wallets and chains. Illiquid domain assets can now become tradable, attracting millions of Web3 investors to trade fractional shares while Doma Protocol manages underlying DNS operations, bridging domains back to the domain investor's preferred registrar for uninterrupted resolution. Domain investors can also apply to Doma Prime, a new launch program designed to help domain investors tap into the power of Web3 to tokenize, manage, and generate liquidity for their domains like never before.

For Domain Registrars: Mizu provides turnkey revenue streams for registrars to supercharge portfolio growth and aftermarket inventory, while keeping their customers engaged and loyal. As the first registrar to integrate and tokenize domains on Doma testnet, NicNames can now offer tokenization to their customers, expanding growth opportunities without operational headaches. Doma's blockchain abstracts away complexities of ICANN-specific governance, giving D3’s registrar partners including InterNet, Rumahweb, and EnCirca the freedom to innovate without compromising DNS-compliance.

Interstellar: DNS-Compliant, DeFi-Ready
Also announced today is Interstellar, a modern domain marketplace where investors can purchase traditional internet domains (.com, .ai, .xyz) that can be tokenized on Doma at the push of a button, simplifying access to Web3 distribution, ownership models, and DeFi liquidity. Interstellar also enables domain investors to secure Web3 names aligned to potential future top-level domains for major Web3 communities (.anime, .ape, .shib, .vic, .core, and others) ahead of next year's ICANN TLD application round.
Serving as a reference architecture for modern domain registrars, Interstellar is ICANN-accredited, DNS-compliant, and DeFi-ready from day one – no manual bridging or compliance headaches. Tokenization, powered by Doma Protocol, allows registrants and registrars to convert existing domain portfolios into tokenized assets at the push of a button, amplifying distribution, ownership models, and DeFi liquidity.
Unlocking A New Asset Class for DeFi and Web3 Innovation
By integrating traditional domains into Doma and Mizu, new opportunities are available for Web3 ecosystems:

For Web3 Investors and Traders: Web3 investors and traders gain access to domains as a massive new real-world asset (RWA) class for trading, speculation, and yield generation. Trade valuable domains as digital real estate for capital gains or generate yield through Mizu liquidity pools, diversifying beyond crypto natives into proven, appreciating digital properties.

Blockchain Developers: Web3 builders can leverage domains as programmable assets to build a new class of decentralized applications. Doma's Forge program, offering a $1M USDC grant pool, accelerates DomainFi innovation and provides resources for developers to pioneer the future of onchain internet ownership.

Doma Protocol, Mizu, and Interstellar are live in testnet for early adopters and developers.
