The timeline for U.S. spot XRP exchange-traded funds (ETFs) shifted slightly this week, but the overall outlook remains positive.

Franklin Templeton’s Small Delay

On September 10, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) pushed back Franklin Templeton’s spot XRP ETF deadline from September 24 to November 14.
This is only a 20-day delay, a routine move that allows the agency a bit more time to review filings.

The delay of the Franklin Templeton spot XRP ETF is a delay of only 20 days and has people carrying on about delays and the SEC. It is a short delay. It suggests to me the SEC may be close to a final decision on this and other spot XRP ETFs. https://t.co/jdq4HojyDL
— bill morgan (@Belisarius2020) September 12, 2025

Market watchers often react strongly to any SEC extension, but this change is minor compared to the long multi-month delays that some crypto ETFs have faced.
The short extension suggests the regulator may be close to a final decision, not only on Franklin Templeton’s product but also on other pending XRP spot ETF applications.

Rex-Osprey ETF Moves Forward

The same day, Rex-Osprey’s XRP ETF cleared its review with no objection.
It is scheduled to go live on September 12, marking the first new XRP spot ETF launch this month.
This approval adds momentum to the idea that the SEC is now comfortable with the framework for XRP-based exchange-traded funds.

Market View

The short Franklin Templeton delay and the quick approval for Rex-Osprey both signal a maturing regulatory environment for XRP.
For traders, the key dates are September 12 for the Rex-Osprey launch and November 14 for the next Franklin Templeton decision window.
If these products roll out smoothly, they could broaden institutional access to XRP and strengthen market liquidity in the months ahead.
