Barter, under CEO Nikita Ovchinnik, has acquired Copium Capital's solver codebase to enhance CoW Swap's decentralized trade execution, strengthening its influence in Ethereum's market.
The acquisition combines expertise and routes, potentially improving trade efficiency and execution quality on CoW Swap with implications for Ethereum's decentralized finance landscape.
Barter has acquired <a href="https://www.blockworks.co/news/barter-buys-rival-solver-codebase" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Copium Capital's solver codebase</a> with ambitions to bolster its position in <a href="https://cow.fi/cow-swap" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">CoW Swap's trade execution</a>. The move integrates Copium’s RFQ and market maker liquidity expertise with Barter's AMM flow routing capacity.
Immediate effects are seen on DeFi assets including ETH, WETH, and COW. Barter’s integration of Copium's strategies may shift the balance of solver power and execution quality in decentralized exchanges.
Barter, a top solver on CoW Swap, led by CEO Nikita Ovchinnik, aims to consolidate its leadership. The acquisition aims to shape the Ethereum execution layer and improve trade efficiency.

"This isn’t just about merging codebases—it’s about shaping the execution layer of Ethereum. Traders may never interact with solvers directly, but their algorithms are increasingly what determines the price users receive." - Nikita Ovchinnik, CEO, Barter

The financial implications involve potential impacts on tokens routed through CoW Swap. The merger could influence trading efficiency, liquidity flows, and governance tokens as explained in the <a href="https://forum.cow.fi/t/cow-token-buyback-an-update-on-1-year-of-execution/3168" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">COW token buyback update</a>.
Institutional involvement remains unconfirmed as neither party disclosed financial specifics. Solver emissions and protocol upgrades are influencing DeFi liquidity and solver rewards.

Insights into the potential outcomes highlight the importance of strategic acquisitions in DeFi. Historical trends suggest improved auction efficiency and liquidity due to previous solver collaborations as noted by <a href="https://www.coindesk.com/tech/2025/05/15/dex-aggregator-cow-swap-targets-33-trading-boost-with-collaboration-feature-more-rewards" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Dex aggregator Cow Swap</a>. <a href="https://marketbit.io/barter-expands-cow-swap-domination/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Read original article on marketbit.io</a>
