Northern Data is a European operator specializing in artificial intelligence (AI) and high-performance computing (HPC) infrastructure.
Northern Data’s operations span three main areas: Taiga Cloud, which offers GPU cloud services for AI workloads; Ardent Data Center, which provides large-scale computing infrastructure; and Peak Mining, a Bitcoin mining division that the company plans to sell to focus entirely on AI and HPC. The proceeds from that sale would be reinvested into expanding AI capabilities and cloud services.

Under the proposed deal, Northern Data shareholders would receive 2.319 newly issued Rumble Class A shares for each share they hold, representing about 33.3 percent of Rumble’s ownership. Based on Rumble’s recent closing price of $7.88, this values Northern Data at $18.27 per share, or roughly $1.17 billion in total.
Tether’s role in this acquisition reflects a growing trend: major crypto companies are moving into AI infrastructure. As AI requires massive amounts of computing power, companies like Northern Data offer the hardware and cloud systems needed to run complex AI models. For Tether, investing in AI could diversify its revenue beyond stablecoins while creating new synergies with its blockchain expertise.
Also, this move follows Tether’s $775 million investment in Rumble at the end of 2024. It aimed at building censorship-resistant platforms for peer-to-peer communication and content distribution. Then, in May 2025, Rumble launched a Bitcoin and stablecoin wallet supporting USDT, linking the two companies even closer. By controlling a major AI and HPC provider, Tether and Rumble could integrate advanced computing into blockchain, video, and communications projects.

USDT has crossed a new milestone by surpassing $8.1 billion in total value locked (TVL) on Aave. Aave is one of the leading decentralized finance (DeFi) lending platforms.
So, this record high shows growing trust and demand for USDT within DeFi. This is where users borrow and lend assets without intermediaries. The surge reflects stablecoin’s crucial role in enabling liquidity and low-volatility trading across blockchain ecosystems.
