Dogecoin co-creator Billy Markus has sparked fresh discussion in the crypto community after issuing a sarcastic warning about an unusual cause of market crashes. According to Markus, visiting the real estate website Zillow during a crypto rally could instantly crash digital asset prices.
Known on social media as Shibetoshi Nakamoto, Markus posted the warning on X, formerly Twitter, where he regularly comments on market trends with humor. He wrote, “Remember, no matter how big Crypto gets, never open Zillow; it?ll crash immediately.”
He then proceeded to another line, stating, “I guess we crashed because someone opened Zillow,” further enhancing the joke.
Although obviously intended as a joke, the post is indicative of the critique of market speculation and volatility that Markus has embraced. His remarks arrive as the cryptocurrency market has been experiencing rising prices, which have been both exciting and raising concerns among investors.

The Zillow reference was interpreted as a humorous take on how rising crypto markets can sometimes be linked to increased real estate activity. This has been observed in previous market cycles, and Markus’s humor has connected with his followers even more.
The Dogecoin founder has a reputation for using irony and sarcasm to express himself. His online character often mocks market tendencies and investors’ unrealistic requests.
In his latest post, he wrote, “Crypto should rise 8% daily, in my opinion,” referencing the over-optimistic scenarios frequently discussed in the crypto community. Markus also provided his followers with his favorite cryptocurrencies.
These four were Bitcoin, Ethereum, Dogecoin, and Avalanche. Bitcoin was explained as the OG, Ethereum is in his portfolio, Dogecoin was co-created by him himself, and Avalanche has his interest in gaming.
Although he is a crypto veteran, Markus has a minor cryptocurrency hold. He earlier revealed that he owned only 0.006 BTC, worth approximately $712.

Billy Markus continues to use humor to highlight the unpredictability of the crypto market. His Zillow remark, though sarcastic, reflects broader investor sentiment during rapid market movement.
