Fairly impressed by WBT’s long-term performance, I decided to look deeper into how this native coin of the WhiteBIT crypto exchange was launched and developed—and why it continues to hold strong in an increasingly volatile market.
Launched with a capped supply and listed across multiple CEXs early on, WBT’s growth trajectory has been deliberate rather than explosive. It was never positioned as a meme or a quick hype token—instead, it followed a strategy rooted in long-term integration within the platform’s infrastructure.

Chronology

August 2022:WBT was launched and initially listed on the WhiteBIT platform in August 2022. It was subsequently listed on MEXC and Huobi within the same year. These listings supported early liquidity and visibility. By the end of October 2022, WBTs market cap was already $1.6 billion and the price was around $14.5 according to CoinGecko.
2023:Building on features developed in late 2022, the exchange continued expanding its product line. Margin trading gained traction, and referral programs were strengthened. Users could utilize WBT to reduce fees and gain other benefits, encouraging broader adoption and holder engagement.
2024:Throughout the year, WBT’s community began growing rapidly. The number of engaged users increased, social media activity surged, and the perception of the coin began to evolve beyond its function as a platform-only tool. Community-driven events and utility benefits continued to drive activity. At the end of 2024, WBT traded in the $24-25 range, with market capitalization holding around $3.5 billion, according to CoinGecko.
April 2025:WBT entered CoinDesk’s ranking, while WhiteBIT was listed among the top derivatives exchanges on Coinglass. WBT’s market cap reached the $5 billion mark—an outcome that reflected the cumulative effects of strategic decisions taken throughout the project's development.

As WBTs market cap grew, attention also turned to the WhiteBIT exchange itself. While the capitalization of a native coin and a company’s legal valuation are different concepts, in the crypto space, they are often closely intertwined. WBT’s market performance is seen as a reflection of user activity, platform trust, and the exchange’s long-term growth potential.
Supporting this correlation are industry precedents: the performance of BNB and OKB once contributed significantly to the perceived credibility and financial health of Binance and OKX. Although a coin’s market cap isn’t a direct measure of company value, there’s a growing trend—when the native coin performs well, the exchange’s overall valuation tends to rise. A similar trend can be seen with WhiteBIT: WBT’s market growth has strengthened the exchange’s image as a liquid and sustainable entity, possibly impacting its own valuation.
According to a valuation formula introduced by CoinCodex journalist Aaron Watts, which takes into account average daily trading volume, web traffic, user count, and the market cap of the native token, WhiteBIT’s platform valuation could be estimated at approximately $38.9 billion—further underscoring the coin’s influence on the company’s perceived value.

WBT Amid Market Turbulence: Stability in the Trump Era

Amid geopolitical shifts and economic uncertainty—including the implementation of tariffs and trade duties by the Trump administration in 2025—the cryptocurrency market experienced heightened volatility. Many digital assets suffered significant drawdowns, especially in the altcoin segment.
Yet WhiteBIT Coin was among the few to demonstrate relative resilience during this period. It was also featured in GOBankingRates' list of '10 Best-Performing Cryptocurrencies of 2025 So Far,' highlighting its standout position in a challenging market environment.
Despite reduced interest in risk assets, WBT avoided sharp declines and maintained a stable position during broader market corrections. This may be attributed to the project’s institutional nature and its deep integration within the exchange’s infrastructure—reducing exposure to short-term macroeconomic shocks.
Interestingly, according to a comparative investment portfolio analysis by a prominent CoinMarketCap analyst, if you had invested $1,000 in WBT at the beginning of the year, it would now be worth $1,137—making it only one of the two assets in the selection to show a positive return. Compared to other coins that posted losses over the same period, WBT’s performance stands out.
Volodymyr Nosov, Founder and President of WhiteBIT Group also shared his thoughts on WBT’s growth on his social networks. To sum up his opinion, if we continue to observe the development of WhiteBIT, we can predict interesting prospects for the future. Let’s imagine a situation when the number of WBTs decreases to 200 million tokens and the HODL strategy becomes popular among investors. A 10-fold increase in the audience of the group’s B2C and B2B products, for example, could have a significant impact on the exchange’s capitalisation, as more people will actively use its services and products. In addition, if WhiteBIT launches a unique feature that its competitors do not have, it could attract new users and investors, further strengthening its market position.

Key Drivers of Growth

Functional Integration:Using WBT for platform services, including trading fee discounts and exclusive features, has created stable demand without the need for constant marketing.

Limited Supply:A hard cap on coin supply and phased distribution minimizes price volatility and encourages long-term holding.

Regulatory Reliability:The exchange adheres to security and compliance standards, reducing risks and reinforcing trust. Platform security was confirmed by an independent audit from Hacken.io, which awarded WhiteBIT a high score and certification.

Transparency:Inclusion in public market rankings such as CoinDesk and Coinglass increases recognition among both institutional and retail investors.

Conclusion

The development path of WhiteBIT Coin shows how strategic integration within exchange infrastructure and consistent expansion of real utility can lead to strengthened market positioning. Unlike speculative approaches, WBT’s product-driven model has generated sustainable interest among users. Its presence in major market rankings is a reflection of that progress.
The coin’s future trajectory will depend on user engagement, the evolution of exchange products, and broader market conditions. However, current results already make a strong case for WBT as a successful example of centralized platform tokenization.
From my perspective, WBT also stands out as one of the most balanced cases of product promotion in the current market—combining solid technical fundamentals with deliberate, long-term marketing execution.
