Suriname’s presidential candidate, Maya Parbhoe, who is also the CEO of Datalist Labs, has made a bold proposal. She suggests that Bitcoin (BTC) could be adopted as the official currency of Suriname to address the country’s ongoing economic struggles. 
<h2 id="parbhoe-s-vision-for-bitcoin-in-suriname">Parbhoe’s Vision for Bitcoin in Suriname</h2> 
Parbhoe’s pro-Bitcoin stance has become a cornerstone of her campaign platform. She believes that Bitcoin could bring much-needed transparency and efficiency to Suriname’s economy. In a recent interview, Parbhoe highlighted the economic challenges that have plagued Suriname since its independence in 1975, particularly inflation and systemic corruption. She argues that Bitcoin’s decentralized structure could be a powerful solution to these issues. 
“I believe that Bitcoin can solve the problems of inflation and systemic corruption,” Parbhoe said, emphasizing how blockchain technology could offer the transparency needed to fight corruption in government spending.

<h2 id="a-transparent-and-efficient-future">A Transparent and Efficient Future</h2> 
Parbhoe envisions a future where government transactions occur on the Bitcoin <a href="https://www.turkishnyradio.com/blockchain-for-capital-markets-proposed/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">blockchain</a>, allowing public spending to be monitored in real-time. She argues that this would not only reduce corruption but also increase the government’s overall efficiency. “There is very little transparency and too much room for corruption… you can set up a system where all expenses are tracked, and you can see exactly where everything goes,” she explained. 
Suriname, with half of its working population employed by the state, could benefit significantly from such a transformation. Parbhoe points out that Bitcoin could not only serve as the official currency but also as a unit of account, driving much-needed economic reform in the country. 
By adopting Bitcoin, Parbhoe believes Suriname could address its long-standing economic issues and lead the way in financial innovation.
