<p style="text-align: justify">Additionally, YubiKey’s NFC feature enables it to be tapped on a phone for authentication, and it can also be used to secure computer access. Compatible with applications like LastPass and Google Password Manager, YubiKey serves a broad range of security purposes, extending beyond just crypto accounts to encompass all online accounts.</p>
<h2 id="yubikey-security-vulnerability">YubiKey Security Vulnerability</h2>
<p style="text-align: justify">Despite its robust features, a significant security vulnerability was recently uncovered. This flaw in the Infineon cryptographic library allows for the potential cloning of YubiKey devices. The affected products include YubiKey 5, YubiKey Bio, Security Key, and YubiHSM 2. Although Yubico suggests that the vulnerability is difficult to exploit, the possibility remains, especially for high-value targets.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify">Cybersecurity experts emphasize that attackers would need physical possession of the YubiKey, along with specific knowledge and special equipment to execute the attack. In state-sponsored scenarios, where access to extensive information is easier, the risk is higher.</p>
<h2 id="practical-security-measures">Practical Security Measures</h2>
<p style="text-align: justify">Here are some actionable tips to mitigate risks associated with the YubiKey vulnerability:</p>

 <li>Utilize a secondary YubiKey as a backup or recovery option.</li>
 <li>Avoid storing sensitive information in easily accessible formats (e.g., emails, notes).</li>

<p style="text-align: justify">The security flaw in YubiKey 5 devices before certain firmware versions means these devices will retain this vulnerability permanently. However, newer models that do not use the Infineon crypto library are not affected.</p>
