Kaia, the new Layer-1 blockchain from Kakao and LINE, is officially <a href="https://x.com/KaiaChain/status/1828978341967515889" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">launching</a> its mainnet on August 29 at 10 p.m. Eastern Time. This launch combines the strengths of two Asian messenger platforms Kakao and LINE.
Kakao’s <a href="https://www.kakaocorp.com/page/service/service/KakaoTalk?lang=en" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">messenger app</a> is immensely popular in South Korea, with 96% of the population using it. LINE dominates messaging in Japan, Taiwan, and Thailand. Together, these platforms hold over 250M users.&nbsp;
The merger of Kakao’s <a href="https://thenewscrypto.com/klaytn-onboards-goldstation-and-gpc-launching-the-first-gold-rwa-defi-platform-outside-of-ethereum/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Klaytn</a> and LINE’s Finschia has given rise to Kaia, a blockchain designed to integrate with these messaging apps.
Kaia promises to be the world’s fastest <a href="https://thenewscrypto.com/creditcoin-launches-evm-compatible-mainnet-and-creditwallet-app/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">EVM</a> (Ethereum Virtual Machine) blockchain, offering one-second transactions, low gas fees, and support from major Asian web3 partners.
This Layer-1 blockchain aims to tackle common challenges, around user experience and distribution, integrating with <a href="https://thenewscrypto.com/kakaos-metabora-sg-joins-oasys-chain-alongside-ubisoft-and-sega/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Kakao</a> and LINE. One of Kaia’s features is its support for Telegram-style app integration on LINE messenger.
Developers can use Kaia’s NEXT WEB software development kit (SDK) to create mini <a href="https://thenewscrypto.com/what-are-dapps-and-how-are-they-built/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">decentralized apps</a> (dApps). This integration is designed to provide a smooth user experience while extending to millions of LINE users across Asia.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-kaia-s-developer-support-and-token-launch">Kaia’s Developer Support and Token Launch</h3>
To support developers, Kaia <a href="https://medium.com/kaiachain/kaia-announces-mainnet-launch-with-kaia-wave-to-accelerate-consumer-adoption-59d77ce6fdb6" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">introduced</a> its Kaia Wave program. This initiative offers support worth $1.2M per team for those using the <a href="https://docs.kaia.io/references/sdk/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">NEXT WEB SDK</a>. Additionally, participating teams will benefit from future token-generation events and liquidity support.
In addition, <a href="https://thenewscrypto.com/hashkey-expands-retail-trading-with-new-avax-and-link-pairs/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">HashKey</a> Global crypto exchange has announced the listing of Kaia’s new token. Trading for the Kaia token begins on August 29, and HashKey Global is also running a special promotion where users can win 75,000 KLAY through a limited-time event.
