Mawson Infrastructure Group has resumed its lease in Perry County, Ohio, following a termination notice earlier this year. The Pennsylvania-based bitcoin mining firm initially faced challenges when it received a notice of termination for the undeveloped property in May 2024. However, Mawson has now secured a lease amendment that extends through April 2027, allowing the company to proceed with its expansion plans, according to <a href="https://theminermag.com/news

The Ohio site, if fully developed, will add 24 MW to Mawson’s power capacity, increasing the total from 129 MW in Pennsylvania to 153 MW. This expansion aligns with Mawson’s broader strategy to shift towards colocation services for AI and high-performance computing (HPC) customers, a growing focus for the firm.
Mawson’s initial plans for the Ohio site were announced in May 2023, when it entered into a lease agreement for a new location in Corning, Perry County, with the expectation of becoming operational by Q3 2023. Despite setbacks, including the termination notice and subsequent discussions regarding the lease’s future, Mawson’s renewed commitment to the project suggests a significant investment in its Ohio operations.
The company is actively seeking AI and HPC partners to collaborate on the project, which marks a strategic pivot from traditional Bitcoin mining to more diversified computational services. This move could position Mawson more competitively in the evolving digital infrastructure landscape, particularly as demand for AI and HPC continues to rise.
