<a href="https://ultramining.com/news/en/bitfarms-set-to-boost-mining-capacity-with-quebec-expansion/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Bitfarms</a> Ltd. has officially assumed control of its first large-scale U.S. site, located in Sharon, Pennsylvania. This move significantly increases the company’s American footprint, expanding its power capacity from 20 MW to 140 MW. The Sharon site, strategically positioned within the PJM Interconnection market, offers low-cost and flexible power, making it ideal for Bitcoin mining and other high-performance computing (HPC) applications. By year-end 2024, 30 MW of the 110 MW acquired will be operational, with an additional 10 MW planned for 2025, according to <a href="https://www.livemint.com/news/celsius-creditors-explore-liquidation-of-new-bitcoin-mining-firm-11724796701771.html" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Livemint.com</a>.
This expansion is a key part of Bitfarms’ aggressive U.S. growth strategy, which aims to leverage the abundant and competitively priced electricity available in the Pennsylvania-New Jersey-Maryland grid. The site is expected to support over 8 EH/s with the latest generation of Bitcoin miners. CEO Ben Gagnon highlighted the importance of this acquisition, noting its role in diversifying the company’s operations and enhancing energy efficiency. Bitfarms has already ordered the necessary equipment to begin operations, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable and scalable growth.
Bitfarms continues to expand globally, with 12 operating data centers and two under development across four countries, including <a href="https://ultramining.com/news/en/alberta-stanovitsya-centrom-majninga-v-kanade-2/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Canada</a>, the United States, Paraguay, and Argentina. This latest move in the U.S. marks a significant milestone in the company’s strategy to become a leading player in the global Bitcoin mining industry.
