The XRP Community Day is coming to Japan, and some of the most important voices in the XRP ecosystem will take to the stage to discuss the XRP Ledger, institutional uptake, the industry’s future, and more. 
RippleX revealed the <a href="https://events.xrplresources.org/toyko-community-2024?utm_source=x&amp;utm_medium=organic_social&amp;utm_campaign=xrp_community_day_tokyo_2024&amp;utm_content=cta_button" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">speaker lineup</a> today, with CEO Brad Garlinghouse among those to headline the September 6 event. Garlinghouse is coming off a landmark victory over the SEC in court, where a Manhattan judge ruled that Ripple should pay <a href="https://www.crypto-news-flash.com/breaking-victory-for-ripple-as-xrp-is-not-a-security-in-the-us-125m-fine-for-the-truth/">$125 million</a> to the SEC as penalties for some security law violations, down from the $2 billion that the watchdog initially demanded. 
Garlinghouse will share the stage with Monica Long, the Ripple President, to discuss the company’s history building on the XRP Ledger. Eric van Miltenburg, the senior vice president for strategic initiatives at Ripple, will moderate the session.

Other speakers include David Schwartz, better known in the community as Joel Katz, who will discuss the roadmap for institutional DeFi on XRPL and how improved programmability on the network has boosted its ability to host institutional applications. 
XRP’s DeFi sector has been growing in recent years, with some suggesting that the Donald Trump administration’s upcoming national DeFi project (if he wins later this year, of course) <a href="https://www.crypto-news-flash.com/is-ripples-xrp-set-to-benefit-from-trumps-mysterious-new-defi-project/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">could be on the XRPL</a>. In April, XRPL’s automated maker market pool <a href="https://www.crypto-news-flash.com/ripples-xrpl-defi-surge-amm-pools-exceed-315-locked-xrp-surpasses-2-2-million/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">surpassed</a> 300, holding over 2.1 million XRP tokens, and has been growing steadily since despite broader market turbulences. 
On his part, Schwartz has been one of the most active voices in XRP, offering insights into some of the most complex topics in the ecosystem. Most recently, he <a href="https://www.crypto-news-flash.com/ripple-cto-highlights-scenarios-for-xrp-if-it-becomes-too-scarce-for-effective-transactions/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">addressed</a> concerns over what would happen if the XRP token became too scarce for effective transactions, revealing that solutions like increasing the token’s divisibility, redefining transaction fees, and introducing transaction credits would all be feasible. 
SBI, one of Ripple’s most trusted partners, will be well-represented at the Tokyo event. Two of its executives will take the stage to discuss the financial giant’s Web3 vision and Japan’s overall crypto landscape. 
In their most recent partnership, Ripple and SBI’s Digital Community<a href="https://www.crypto-news-flash.com/xrp-ledger-to-host-new-nfts-as-ripple-partners-with-sbi-holdings-subsidiary-for-strategic-expansion/"> joined hands</a> to expand the adoption of XRPL in Japan through NFTs and other digital tokens. 
SBI’s continued support for XRP attracts other Japanese banks to the crypto. As we <a href="https://www.crypto-news-flash.com/xrp-adoption-in-japan-a-comprehensive-list-of-banks-embracing-ripples-technology/">reported</a>, the number of banks preparing to integrate the token is now above 80%, from Mizuho and Sumitomo Mitsui to Resona and Bank of Yokohama, 
XRP trades at $0.5927, dipping 2.7% in the past day.
