Sony Group has made a major move into the blockchain industry by launching Soneium, a next-generation Layer-2 network based on Ethereum.
Developed in conjunction with Singapore-based <a style="color: #008000;" href="https://www.crypto-news-flash.com/sony-takes-the-metaverse-by-storm-plans-to-create-its-own-blockchain/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Startale Labs</a>, this unique initiative aims to alter the Web3 landscape by combining Circle, Alchemy, The Graph, Chainlink, and Astar Network’s superior capabilities.

As a crucial step toward driving blockchain adoption, as we previously <a style="color: #008000;" href="https://www.crypto-news-flash.com/chainlink-selected-as-launch-partner-for-sony-groups-soneium-blockchain/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">reported</a>, Sony has picked Chainlink as its primary launch partner, guaranteeing Soneium’s infrastructure is strong and capable of meeting the needs of a fast growing sector.
Soneium is intended to address two significant difficulties for Web3: low user engagement and a lack of mainstream use cases. Sony hopes to expose blockchain to a wider audience by developing varied commercial prospects and new applications that demonstrate the unique value of Web3 technology.
The company’s extensive global presence and distribution networks are expected to play an important role in this venture.
Soneium’s approach includes a two-phase initiative with Astar Network. This collaboration will witness the move of <a style="color: #008000;" href="https://www.crypto-news-flash.com/astar-network-launches-phase-1-evolution-zkevm-joins-soneium-l2-astr-token-enhances-interoperability-with-major-ethereum-chains/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Astar zkEVM to Soneium</a>, allowing Astar Network to use Sony’s significant experience and broaden its Web3 reach.
This partnership not only demonstrates Sony’s commitment to the blockchain space, but it also establishes Soneium as a versatile platform capable of supporting a diverse range of applications in gaming, entertainment, and finance.
Also, Jun Watanabe, Chairman of Sony Block Solutions Labs, and Sota Watanabe from Startale Labs are leading this enormous initiative.
They will share additional details about Soneium’s future at the next WebX conference in Tokyo. They want to discuss comprehensive tactics for the testnet and eventual mainnet launch, which will be a big milestone in Sony’s decentralized technology initiative. Sota Watanabe stated:
