<p>Ripple’s CTO,&nbsp;<a href="https://www.thecoinrepublic.com/2024/04/21/ripple-cto-answers-internet-questions-clears-misconceptions/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">David Schwartz</a>, has recently cleared certain misunderstandings circulating on social media about the XRP Ledger (XRPL).</p>
<p>Schwartz’s intervention was in response to an X user who was concerned that XRPL is referred to as ‘permissioned’ or ‘trusted’ in some documents. He waved off these labels, saying that they do not capture the real essence of the decentralized network.</p>
<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-ripple-cto-asserts-xrpl-is-fully-decentralized"><strong>Ripple CTO Asserts XRPL Is Fully Decentralized</strong></h2>
<p>In his presentation, Schwartz pointed out that XRPL is a permissionless system. This means no single entity controls it, which is the opposite of the “permissioned” or “trusted” labels that are often applied.</p>
<p>He explained that the consensus mechanism of&nbsp;<a href="https://www.thecoinrepublic.com/2024/08/07/ripplex-prepares-for-major-xrpl-upgrades-analyst-predicts-xrp-surge-by-2100/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">XRPL</a>&nbsp;is decentralized. The validators are in charge of the network, and no single entity has a monopoly of power. This means that no central operator is required for all the transactions that are to be performed.</p>

<p>Schwartz also emphasized that XRPL is more effective in addressing the double-spend problem. It has been a big challenge in the digital currency world.</p>
<p>He was not very concerned with how blockchains solve this issue. He simply noted that XRPL does not have this issue. This division further cements that XRPL is a decentralized and open network.</p>
<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-david-schwartz-to-speak-on-institutional-defi-at-event"><strong>David Schwartz to Speak on Institutional DeFi at Event</strong></h2>
<p>David Schwartz will expand on these themes at the next Permissionless event, where he will present.</p>
<p>On the event’s second day, he would have a segment on institutional decentralized finance (DeFi). This is the first time Schwartz has participated in the conference, which shows his increasing engagement in blockchain and&nbsp;<a href="https://www.thecoinrepublic.com/2024/08/16/uniswap-labs-launches-2-35m-defi-auditing-prize-pool/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">DeFi</a>.</p>
<p>Ripple is very interested in the progress of blockchain, says Schwartz. He will help dispel some myths around XRPL and its consensus mechanism. The conference will be a more profound debate on the subject of institutional DeFi and the place of XRPL in it.</p>

<p>At the time of writing this article, XRP was trading at $0.90, which was falling marginally from its previous day’s value. The price declined by 0.15% on the last day and was quoted at $0.5669. This minor drop can be seen in the context of the general changes occurring in the crypto market and in a number of cryptocurrencies.</p>
<p>Nevertheless, XRP continues to hold its position in the digital currency market and is of interest to investors and experts. XRP has not been exempted from the volatility that still characterizes market trends. Thus, the further evolution of Ripple and XRP will affect its price.</p>
