During the Paris Olympics, a decentralized weather tracking network called WeatherXM made a subtle but impactful presence by installing 40 of its Pulse weather stations around Olympic venues.
These stations, part of a partnership between WeatherXM and research company Humantelemetrics, tracked detailed weather data such as temperature and air pressure, providing "hyperlocal" information to enhance athlete safety and event management.
The initiative, linked to the decentralized physical infrastructure (DePIN) sector, showcases how crypto and blockchain technology can be integrated into large-scale events like the Olympics.
WeatherXM's future plans include expanding its business-to-business offerings and launching an API platform later this year.
