Advisors close to Vice President Kamala Harris have reached out to billionaire and Bitcoin supporter Mark Cuban to discuss cryptocurrency policy. This outreach suggests a potential shift in the political field towards a more business-friendly approach to emerging technologies like blockchain and AI.

Mark Cuban revealed to Decrypt that he has been receiving multiple inquiries from Harris’ team about cryptocurrency. He views this engagement as a positive indication of Harris’ potential openness to the sector. “I’m getting multiple questions from her camp about crypto”, Cuban stated. “So I take that as a good sign”.

Cuban also mentioned that he hasn’t heard of any other industry leaders being contacted in a similar manner, highlighting the unique interest from Harris’ camp. In an earlier conversation with Politico, Cuban shared that business leaders are optimistic about Harris’ potential support for emerging tech sectors, should she be elected.

The feedback Cuban has received, although not confirmed by the Vice President herself, suggests that Harris might be more favorable towards business, artificial intelligence, and cryptocurrency compared to her predecessor. This potential shift could attract support from the substantial number of crypto users in the United States, who are estimated to be over 50 million.

Earlier this week, the Digital Chamber penned an open letter to Harris, urging for pro-crypto changes to the Democratic platform and calling for a vice-presidential candidate supportive of the crypto industry. This appeal highlights the growing importance of cryptocurrency in political discourse.

There are also speculations that Harris might speak at Bitcoin 2024, an event former President Donald Trump is set to attend. Bitcoin Magazine reported that Bitcoin Conference CEO David Bailey is in talks with the Harris campaign about a potential keynote speaker slot. This outreach occurred shortly after Joe Biden dropped out of the 2024 presidential race.

Harris’ Stance on Crypto Still Unclear

While Harris has not focused much on cryptocurrency in her political career, the recent inquiries and engagements indicate that she is doing her homework on the topic. Her approach to the sector remains to be seen, but the proactive steps taken by her advisors suggest a promising direction for crypto advocates.
