Where can US investors, especially institutions, buy from? Since the largest, most liquid exchange operating in the region is Coinbase, most transactions occur there. So, if demand is high on Coinbase, the price difference between Binance and Coinbase widens. In the opposite scenario, the gap closes, indicating weak interest. Binance, on the other hand, serves a very broad customer base globally. 
The deep drop in the Coinbase premium index shows that the buying pressure from American investors has weakened. According to Lawant, US investors will eventually have to return and bring this index back to normal levels.
