Web 3 Development

Stateless, a leader in trust-minimized decentralization and web3 data access, has today announced the launch of a groundbreaking light client solution designed to redefine user interactions with the Ethereum blockchain.
The new consumer light client, developed in partnership with Laconic, leverages cutting-edge technology, including zero-knowledge proofs, to deliver a secure, verifiable, and user-friendly experience.
Designed to facilitate verification processes in a more user-centric model, the innovative framework integrates seamlessly with popular libraries such as Ethers, enhancing trust and simplifying secure interactions for blockchain users everywhere.
“Our new consumer light client shifts the paradigm by delivering verified data directly to end-users at the point of consumption," says Joe Habel, CTO. "As well as being less resource-intensive and more cost-efficient, it's fully compatible with popular production-ready libraries, making it an ideal choice for devs looking to integrate advanced blockchain interactions into their apps without managing infrastructure."
The light client solution focuses on providing data availability and validity proofs, ensuring not only the correctness and inclusion of data but also enabling users to independently verify the accuracy of data and the integrity of computations performed by integrating three core components: verified state, data availability evidence, and client-side libraries.
Current market offerings require users to depend on untrusted and centralized third parties or host costly infrastructure, but this consumer-light client design bridges the gap.
"Our solution dismantles these barriers, offering a consumer light client that directly delivers data integrity and availability to the end-users without the overhead. This aligns with our vision of making blockchain data as consumable as traditional databases, but with the added benefits of decentralization," Habel explains.
This effectively enables the specification of EIP-1186, allowing users to consume blockchain data directly via Ethereum’s eth_getProof method. With this activation, Stateless recontextualizes blockchain interactions by ensuring that every data fetched is accurate and immediately verifiable.
"We are enhancing the foundational protocols of Ethereum, ensuring that developers and users finally get what they thought they were getting when they interact with blockchain technologies. This is about building trust where it’s most needed and lowering the barriers to entry for the next generation of developers," Habel emphasizes.
Developers can access proofs from Ethereum, Polygon, Arbitrum, and Optimism via the Stateless API interface or bring their own optimized proof source for other EVM networks. Laconic’s index of the underlying Ethereum data through their IPLD Ethereum server and database is an excellent resource for developers looking to further optimize their efficiency while maintaining full verifiability.
This release marks the first of several planned iterations to embed trustless verification technologies more deeply into everyday blockchain operations. Jessica Daugherty, CEO of Stateless, will elaborate on this transformative light client framework and discuss future Stateless contributions to Ethereum at the upcoming ETHCC conference in Brussels in a talk on Monday, July 8.
"With this launch, we have closed the loop on consumable Ethereum access," Habel concludes. "It paves the way for unprecedented scaling and integration into the broader ecosystem, including L2 solutions and beyond."
