<p>In his latest <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GodfG2hMMXs" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">video</a>, Bitcoin University’s Matthew Cratts discusses if <a href="https://captainaltcoin.com/?s=kaspa&amp;post_type=post" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Kaspa (KAS)</a> could be the next <a href="https://captainaltcoin.com/?s=Bitcoin&amp;post_type=post" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Bitcoin</a>.</p>
<p>While Kaspa’s price has lately taken a pause following an incredible climb, Cratts provides a thorough analysis of why he feels Kaspa is the only genuine competitor to Bitcoin in the cryptocurrency space.</p>
<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="kaspa-s-position-in-the-crypto-market">Kaspa’s Position in the Crypto Market</h2>
<p>Cratts begins by noting Kaspa’s current ranking as the 24th cryptocurrency by market cap, positioned between Internet Computer (ICP) and Pepe.</p>
<p>However, he emphasizes that Kaspa is a far more serious project than these competitors. The YouTuber highlights Kaspa’s implementation of the GhostDAG protocol, which he describes as a “real innovation” in the space.</p>
<p>According to Cratts, Kaspa’s GhostDAG protocol claims to solve the blockchain trilemma – the challenge of achieving security, scalability, and decentralization simultaneously.</p>
<p>While he expresses some skepticism about the long-term decentralization of Kaspa, Cratts acknowledges the potential of GhostDAG if it lives up to its promises.</p>
<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="kaspa-s-similarities-to-bitcoin">Kaspa’s Similarities to Bitcoin</h2>
<p>Cratts points out several characteristics that set Kaspa apart from typical “shitcoins”:</p>

 <li>No pre-mine or initial token allocation</li>
 <li>Proof-of-work consensus mechanism</li>
 <li>Fixed maximum supply (28.7 billion KAS)</li>
</ol>
<p>These features, he argues, align Kaspa more closely with Bitcoin’s ethos than many other cryptocurrencies.</p>
<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="challenges-facing-kaspa">Challenges Facing Kaspa</h2>
<p>Despite its innovations, Cratts identifies several challenges that could hinder Kaspa’s potential to rival Bitcoin:</p>

 <li>The presence of a living, active founder (Yonatan Sompolinsky) who publicly comments on political issues</li>
 <li>A predominantly Israeli development team, which may impact global perception and adoption</li>
 <li>A faster issuance schedule compared to Bitcoin, with 95% of all coins to be mined by July 2026</li>

<p>As per Cratts, Kaspa faces a great obstacle in overcoming Bitcoin’s established status as a trillion-dollar asset with strong network effects. <p>Despite Kaspa’s current price consolidation, Cratts’ analysis suggests that the project’s unique features and similarities to Bitcoin make it a noteworthy contender in the cryptocurrency space.</p>
<p>However, he maintains that Bitcoin’s first-mover advantage, neutrality, and established network effects present significant hurdles for any potential rival, including Kaspa.</p>
