MicroStrategy’s CEO and Bitcoin investor Michael Saylor has reached a <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2024/06/03/business/dealbook/saylor-microstrategy-tax-settlement.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">$40 million settlement</a> with the District of Columbia’s attorney general. This settlement resolves accusations that Saylor evaded paying over $25 million in income taxes. The lawsuit, filed in 2022, claimed that Saylor and his company engaged in illegal tax strategies for 15 years. This resolution marks the largest tax fraud recovery ever in the district’s history.
The lawsuit alleges that from 2005 to 2020, <a href="https://coinedition.com/microstrategy-joins-msci-crypto-goes-mainstream/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Saylor and MicroStrategy</a> falsely reported his address to avoid paying higher taxes in the District of Columbia.
