Republican Senator Ted Cruz from <a href="https://ultramining.com/news/en/texas-residents-challenge-bitcoin-mining-industrys-impact-on-power-grid-and-communities/">Texas</a> has announced the purchase of three application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) bitcoin miners. “I just bought 3 Bitcoin miners that started hashing today in Iraan, TX,” Cruz stated on social media this week. “I’m proud to join the ranks of Texas bitcoin miners,” he added. Cruz, a vocal supporter of bitcoin (BTC) and the broader cryptocurrency sector, has been advocating for Texas to become a prime destination for the blockchain and crypto industry. In 2022, he made a $50,000 investment in bitcoin, reflecting his personal commitment to the cryptocurrency. He is also a strong opponent of the Federal Reserve’s plans to develop a central bank digital currency (CBDC).
