<p>DMM Bitcoin, a Japanese cryptocurrency exchange, disclosed on Friday that a breach resulted in the theft of more than $300 million in <a href="https://crypto.ro/en/cryptocurrencies/bitcoin/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">bitcoin</a>.</p>
<p>The unauthorized leak of bitcoin from the exchange’s wallet was detected on Friday, May 31, 2024, at approximately 1:26 p.m., according to an English translation of the company’s statement.</p>

<p>The exchange reported that a total of 4,502.9 bitcoin, which amounts to approximately $306 million, were stolen. DMM Bitcoin, a subsidiary of DMM Group, has assured its customers that it will cover the losses.</p>
<p>In its statement, the company promised to fully guarantee all bitcoin deposits. This assurance means that customers are likely to be reimbursed, as the company plans to procure the equivalent amount of stolen bitcoin with support from its group companies.</p>
