<p>After the Japanese <a href="https://www.cointribune.com/en/bitcoin-japanese-metaplanet-adopts-michael-saylors-strategy/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Metaplanet</a>, a new multinational has embraced Microstrategy’s strategy of converting its treasury into BTC. The value of Semler Scientific’s stock has since soared by nearly 40%.</p>

<p>Semler Scientific now holds 581 BTC worth a total of $40 million. A drop in the bucket compared to Microstrategy’s 214,000 BTC, but small streams make big rivers.</p>

<p>“<em>Our&nbsp;bitcoin&nbsp;treasury strategy and purchase of&nbsp;bitcoin&nbsp;underscore our belief that&nbsp;bitcoin&nbsp;is a reliable store of value and a compelling investment,</em>” <a href="https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/semler-scientific-announces-bitcoin-treasury-strategy-302156715.html" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">declares</a> the chairman of the NASDAQ-listed company.</p> 
<p><em>“Bitcoin&nbsp;is now a major asset class with more than&nbsp;$1 trillion&nbsp;of market value. </em>We believe it has unique characteristics as a scarce and finite asset that can serve as a reasonable inflation hedge and safe haven amid global instability<em>.</em></p> 
<p><em>We also believe its digital, architectural resilience makes it preferable to gold, which has a market value of approximately 10 times that of&nbsp;bitcoin. Given the gap in value between gold and&nbsp;bitcoin, we believe that&nbsp;bitcoin&nbsp;has the potential to generate outsize returns as it gains increasing acceptance as digital gold.”</em></p> 
<p>This explanation resonates with that of Metaplanet, which chose to invest in bitcoin to <em>“protect against the depreciation of the yen.”</em> <em>“As the yen continues to weaken, bitcoin offers a stateless store of value that could continue to appreciate against traditional currencies,”</em> can be read in its statement.</p> 
<p>Eric Semler also justifies his decision by its “institutionalization,” as evidenced by the approval by the Securities and Exchange Commission of 11 ETFs in January.</p> 
<p><em>“These ETFs have recorded net inflows of over $13 billion, with investments coming from nearly 1,000 institutions, including systemic banks [Morgan Stanley] and pension funds. It is estimated that more than 10% of all bitcoins are now held by institutions,”</em> he added.</p>
