Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority or Adafsa stated on Thursday that mining of cryptocurrency is prohibited in the farms. This measure aims to prevent misuse of agricultural sites and control excessive electricity consumption. 
Adafsa emphasized that crypto mining leads to a significant rise in electricity bills, which is unsustainable for farm operations. The farmhouse is not designed for energy-intensive applications such as mining cryptocurrencies. Anyone found using this technique may be subject to penalties of up to Dh10,000. 
The prohibition on farms is part of broader efforts to ensure sustainable energy use and proper land utilization. Authorities continue to monitor compliance and enforce penalties to maintain regulatory standards. 
In a similar <a href="https://www.cryptotimes.io/2024/05/19/venezuela-halt-crypto-mining-to-ensure-reliable-power-supply/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">report</a>, the Venezuelan Ministry of Electric Power has accused the cryptocurrency mines of consuming electricity, and as a result, has cut them off from the electrical supply. 
This decision is intended to decrease energy usage and guarantee the availability of electricity to the people. This is a result of Venezuela’s intensified campaign on mining, which has led to the seizure of 2000 mining machines and the charge of several officials.&nbsp;
