President Joe Biden’s re-election campaign is on the hunt for a meme culture expert to connect with Generation Z voters. The campaign has posted a job opening for a Partnership Manager, tasked with leading and managing efforts to interact with top internet content creators and meme pages.

Why Is Biden Focusing on Memes?

Biden’s campaign will compensate the Delaware-based meme manager in Wilmington between $65,000 and $85,000 annually, a rate slightly above the average salary for digital marketers in the U.S. The main responsibility for the role includes managing relationships with digital media firms, podcast publishers, and meme creators on various social media platforms.

Previously, Biden’s team has dabbled in meme culture. In early 2022, they adopted the Dark Brandon laser eyes meme to showcase the 81-year-old president’s internet savvy. This initiative was highlighted during a February interview with Seth Meyers on Late Night, where Biden expressed his amusement with the meme. He further embraced this persona during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in April.

What About Crypto and Politics?

Biden’s latest move is seen as an attempt to engage younger voters. Many Democratic candidates have adjusted their positions on cryptocurrencies after Donald Trump leveraged pro-crypto sentiments to attract votes. Trump himself has a history with meme culture; his August 2023 mugshot became viral, which his campaign capitalized on by selling associated merchandise and launching an NFT collection called MugShot. Additionally, the Trump-themed meme coin MAGA saw a surge after Trump’s pro-crypto statements.

Key Insights for Voters
