<p>Earlier today, Bitcoin managed to surge above the important level of $65k following a volatile past week, which debuted with a significant price drop under $56k.</p> 
<h2 id="bitcoin-dormant-address-transfers-holdings-to-2-wallets">Bitcoin dormant address transfers holdings to 2 wallets</h2> 
<p>Today, on May 6, the Bitcoin dormant address transferred its holdings to two different wallets. The wallet transferred 625.43 BTC to an address starting with bc1qky, and the remaining 61.9 BTC were transferred to an address starting with bc1qdc.</p> 
<p>The movement of funds from old wallets, especially the ones dating back to the Satoshi era, usually triggers curiosity in the crypto community.</p> 
<p>The Satoshi era refers to the early days after the creation of Bitcoin when the pseudonymous founder Satoshi Nakamoto was still online in forums.</p> 
<p>Some of the wallets dating back to the Satoshi era are speculated to be linked to Satoshi.</p> 
<p>A Fortune<a href="https://fortune.com/crypto/2024/04/24/bitcoin-wallets-waking-up-lost-coins-satoshi/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank"> report</a> notes that 1.75 million Bitcoin wallets have remained inactive for more than ten years. Many of them contain specific BTC holdings that are estimated to be bought when the BTC price was trading in just double digits.</p> 
<p>According to the same report, the dormant wallets include a little under 1,8 million Bitcoin worth around $115 billion at the current price.</p> 
<p>Chainalysis notes that 99% of the lost wallets include less than 50 BTC.</p>

<p>Over the past two years, various wallets dating to the Satoshi era have been activated only to transfer the BTC holdings to a new address. Some of these wallets were also found to<a href="https://twitter.com/lookonchain/status/1779772457622388937" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank"> have transferred BTC</a> to crypto exchanges.</p> 
<p>Chainalysis also shared info regarding the change in the total number of lost Bitcoin by wallet size between 2018 and 2024.</p>

<p>Back In July 2023, a wallet that has been dormant for 11 years transferred $30 million in BTC and in November 2023, three Satoshi era BTC wallets transferred $230 million in BTC following six years of inactivity.</p> 
<p>The three wallets are reportedly believed to be connected to the same individual or organization. They made the last transaction on November 5, 2017.</p> 
<p>Yesterday, on May 5, the Bitcoin network processed its<a href="https://crypto.ro/en/news/bitcoin-back-to-65k-up-by-over-2-in-24-hours-btc-network-reaches-1b-transactions/"> one billionth transaction</a>, marking an important milestone moment. This came 15 years after the Bitcoin network was created.</p>
