In a recent auction that caught the attention of crypto enthusiasts worldwide, a simple yellow notepad with the words <a href="https://scarce.city/auctions/buy-bitcoin" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener" data-wpel-link="external">“Buy Bitcoin”</a> scribbled on it, <a href="https://www.cryptotimes.io/2024/04/23/buy-bitcoin-note-linked-to-yellen-hits-2-2-btc-in-auction/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener" data-wpel-link="internal">famously flashed</a> behind former US Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen during a 2017 Congressional hearing, made waves by selling for a whopping 16 bitcoins (BTC). At the current market value of around $64,283 per BTC, that’s over $1 million! 
The winning bidder, identified as “Justin,” also known as “Squirrekkywrath,” secured the historic notepad through an auction held on the Bitcoin auction platform Scarce City. The auction lasted a week, drawing considerable interest, and ended on April 24, just after 11:00 pm UTC.

In a gutsy move back in July 2017, Christian Langalis grabbed his moment in the spotlight during a televised House Financial Services Committee hearing. He quickly flashed a sign behind then-Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen, only to be promptly escorted out since signs were a no-go during the hearing. 
But Langalis’ bold move ended up being more profitable than he could’ve imagined. Right after his sign appeared, Bitcoin’s value <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2017/07/12/someone-held-up-a-buy-bitcoin-sign-during-yellens-testimony-to-congress.html" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener" data-wpel-link="external">shot up</a> by 3.7%, soaring to over $2,418. Fast forward a few years, and Langalis is cashing in big time. 
In a statement that comes with his listing, Langalis shared his excitement about finally freeing up this stash of bitcoin, which was previously just sitting in his sock drawer. Now, he’s making it available to the wider Bitcoin community.
