On Wednesday, April 24, SlowMist, a blockchain security company, reported that the Lazarus Group, a hacking organization based in North Korea, has been targeting employees in the cryptocurrency industry by creating fake LinkedIn profiles. 
Lazarus has been a threat to the crypto space. The group has drained about $3 billion from digital assets so far. The blockchain security firm shared the alarming news on its X account to alert users in a timely manner.

These fake job profiles receive offers as job seekers in blockchain development and send emails to HR personnel and hiring managers, posing under different identities. 
The cybercriminals then lure innocent people by claiming to have good links for displaying their coding skills and obtaining their personal information, either by offering a free logo or software. 
However, there is information-stealing malware designed to pilfer the data of the target individuals. This malware steals all the information from the user’s device and uploads it to a server controlled by the hacker. 
Additionally, a recent <a href="https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/north-korea-weapons-mass-destruction-funding-cyber-hacking-vdbs0g9xz" target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-wpel-link="external">UN report</a> has linked North Korea’s monetary escape to cyberattacks, estimating that as much as 40% of the country’s WMD program is supported by these activities. Security officers, in particular, fear that well-coordinated and targeted state-sponsored attacks represent a danger to the nation’s safety.
