CESS (Cumulus Encrypted Storage System), the industry-leading blockchain-based decentralized storage and content delivery platform, sponsored the prestigious LIVE AI 1 Duke-Harvard Hackathon. LIVE AI is a new, multi-campus hybrid hackathon initiative being held online and on the campuses of Duke University and Harvard University. Full in-person as well as online hackathon experiences, speaker panels, and fun activities were featured at the event.
Focusing on the cutting-edge themes of artificial intelligence, blockchain/Web3, and financial technology, the event attracted aspiring creatives, developers, and entrepreneurs from across the world.
CESS participated at the event as a co-host, with a lucrative CESS prize up for grabs for the project or idea built using CESS infrastructure. Other prizes included awards for best design, most innovative solution, best demo, best web solution, highest impact, and more.
During the event, builders were challenged to build along the themes of AI, blockchain, Web3, or financial technology using user-facing combinations of web, mobile, gamified experiences, data, and more. Whether in the areas of art, music, athletics, politics, environment, economics, healthcare, social empowerment, or otherwise, participants and speakers covered a large number of topics and showcased some of the most bleeding-edge capabilities of new, performant, and user-focused products and services.

CESS Co-founder and Chairman Nick Zaldastani talked about CESS’s DePIN (Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Network) infrastructure in the context of the global need for fast, performant, cost-effective, and decentralized storage, retrieval, and delivery systems in the future and said: “CESS formulated the first-ever decentralized storage IEEE standard, providing a critical stepping stone for facilitating the innovation and collaborative growth needed in the Web3 space. CESS is helping to pave a user-focused future for Web3 data storage and retrieval, one that operates with enterprise needs in mind as well.”

CESS, as a blockchain-based decentralized storage and CDN infrastructure for Web3 data economy, not only ensures secure massive storage, millisecond level retrieval and online sharing of data, but also opens new opportunities for the realization of data value.
Nick Zaldastani also discussed how CESS creates a new data value network. By enabling assets, currency, and value to flow freely over the internet, CESS creates a decentralized data value network in which token incentives and rewards ensure that idle storage resources are efficiently used and that developers, creators, merchants, and consumers are rewarded and can transparently participate and trade and exchange data over the network. CESS even ensures that these participants retain their ownership rights and the monetization of their data. By facilitating data circulation and spurring value creation by unlocking the intrinsic value of digital assets, CESS is helping the industry move away from slow, inefficient, costly, centralized, and inequitable Web2 centralized networks.
As such, CESS is becoming more than just a storage blockchain network and is positioned to be a conduit for value connectivity and sharing – one that will herald a more open, transparent, and decentralized future for Web3.

CESS’s Tech Innovations and the Future of Content Delivery & Data Services

CESS continues to be at the forefront of modern, decentralized, blockchain-based solutions to problems that plague the data storage, retrieval, and content delivery spaces. A lack of cross-chain compatibility, limited use cases, network congestion, misaligned user incentives, security concerns, onboarding challenges, and more have restricted the adoption and growth of Web3 services applications and services for several years.
CESS overcomes these issues with an underlying DePIN model that can help create a network of global nodes via carefully designed incentives. It also addresses blockchain’s data availability problem and provides full-stack data solutions that are custom-built for large-scale commercial applications. CESS also provides an open-sourced, public blockchain with integrated APIs and SDKs for easy dApp deployment, and the network leverages breakthrough innovations such as the Multi-Format Data Rights Confirmation Mechanism (used in digital fingerprint/data tracking and identification) and the CESS Decentralized Object Storage Service that provides fast, secure, and scalable storage for large files. Privacy management and deployment options that specifically address issues faced by users working in sensitive industries (healthcare, finance, defense) and data vulnerability issues are also addressed by CESS, as are the inefficient use of resources, poor data retrieval times, and restricted usability in modern data storage solutions.
By providing a fast, secure, cost-effective, and highly modular, and integrations-focused solution, CESS also helps lower user dependence on service providers, virtually eliminates transmission delays, clears network congestion, and provides the standards and customization options that currently lack in this space. A highly decentralized open resource network, a thriving free market for demand transactions, and an innovative and diversified data privacy protection system also help to turbocharge CESS’s proprietary and adaptive dynamic scaling network capabilities.
Events such as the LIVE AI 1 Duke-Harvard Hackathon demonstrate the power of solutions such as CESS and the future will undoubtedly see more cutting-edge products and services revamping the current market in a new, decentralized, user-owned-and-controlled Web3 landscape. CESS has already laid the groundwork for this revolution by building strong relationships with universities, researchers, and students, and nurturing the latent Web3 capabilities of future developers and innovators. CESS maintains a strong commitment to advancing decentralized technology education and innovation and continues to bring attention to new developments and energize the industry with new talent on a global scale.
