<p>A Bitcoin address, whose owner remains unknown, has recently transferred a staggering amount of $6 billion worth of <a href="https://crypto.ro/en/cryptocurrencies/bitcoin/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Bitcoin (BTC)</a> to three separate addresses.</p>
<h2 id="details-of-the-transaction">Details of the Transaction</h2>
<p>The address in question was credited with 94,500 bitcoins, equivalent to $6.05 billion, back in 2019. The data was provided by Arkham, a blockchain analytics firm. This substantial amount of Bitcoin remained untouched until recently when it was divided and sent to three new addresses, leaving a balance of just 1.4 bitcoins, or around $99,000, in the original wallet.</p>
<p>Initially, the funds were split between two wallets. Following this, one portion was moved to a new wallet, while the remaining funds were further divided and transferred to two additional wallets. As a result, the $6 billion is now distributed across three wallets, with one holding $5 billion worth of Bitcoin and the remaining sum approximately split between the other two.</p>
<h2 id="not-linked-to-known-exchanges">Not Linked to Known Exchanges</h2>
<p>While many large Bitcoin addresses are typically linked to cryptocurrency exchanges, this particular wallet has shown very little activity and no obvious connections to any exchange. Arkham’s CEO, Miguel Morel, noted the unusual nature of this, stating that it’s rare for such a large amount of Bitcoin to remain unmoved for so long without any indication of being linked to an exchange.</p>
<p>This marks one of the most significant movements of Bitcoin in recent times. Earlier this year, a transaction of 26.9 bitcoins, valued at $1.2 million then, was made from what seemed to be a <a href="https://crypto.ro/en/exchange/binance/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Binance</a> wallet to the Bitcoin network’s Genesis wallet. In November 2023, three dormant Bitcoin addresses, inactive since November 2017, moved 6,500 bitcoins, worth around $230 million at that time, to new addresses.</p>
