<p>A trader of Bitcoin Ordinals recently made an erroneous purchase of a nonfungible token (NFT) valued at $13,000 on the <a href="https://crypto.ro/en/cryptocurrencies/bitcoin/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Bitcoin</a> network.</p>
<p>On the 1st of March, the trader shared a post on a platform, detailing this error, which they termed as their “biggest mistake” since they began trading Bitcoin-related NFTs.</p>
<h2 id="mistaken-purchase">Mistaken Purchase</h2>
<p>The trader believed they had purchased an NFT for 0.021 BTC, equivalent to approximately $1,287. However, after the transaction, they realized that the NFT was listed at 0.21 BTC (around $12,877).</p>
<p>The trader expressed their embarrassment and disappointment, stating that a “lucky person” had received a substantial amount of money due to their mistake. They shared their experience as a cautionary tale for others to double-check their digital asset transactions.</p>
<h2 id="resolution-of-the-mistake">Resolution of the Mistake</h2>
<p>Dan Anderson, the seller of the NFT, noticed the post and pledged to return the funds. Anderson stated that it was his listing and that he had already proposed a buyback offer for the NFT at 0.21 BTC in the marketplace.</p>
<p>The trader accepted the offer, and the funds were returned. The NFT has since been relisted in the market at 0.21 BTC.</p>
<p>While this trader was able to recover their funds, not everyone who mistakenly receives cryptocurrency is as willing to return it.</p>
<p>In one instance, Australian crypto exchange OTCPro accidentally credited a user $653,000 instead of $65,300 due to an error. The exchange alleged that the user has ignored emails, calls, and court appearances since the mistake was discovered.</p>
<p>In another case, a couple who mistakenly received $10.5 million from Crypto.com spent the money on luxury items, including a mansion, rather than returning the funds. The couple later faced legal consequences for their actions.</p>
