In the recent happenings, Ripple made a surprising move by releasing about half a billion XRP tokens. There’s been a lot of buzz about this <a href="https://news.todayq.com/bnb-chain-record-19-5-mln-transactions-amid-4-bln-doj-talks/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">unexpected transaction</a>, along with an attached mysterious message. As per WhaleAlert, XRP has released 400 million tokens, catching many in the community off guard due to its timing and also the memo attached. Sparking curiosity among people, who are eager to understand its significance and the reasons behind it.
Usually, Ripple releases about 1 billion XRP tokens from its escrow wallet at the beginning of each month and relocks 80% after a few hours. But in February, only about half a billion XRP tokens were released.
The big transaction had a message mentioning an earlier escrow release that didn’t happen and names like “Hodor” and “<a href="https://news.todayq.com/xrp-holders-lawyer-john-deaton-mocks-sec-chair-gary-genslers-idea-of-security/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">John Deaton</a>.” This has made people wonder even more about what’s going on.
It is unclear why this happened and what it could mean for XRP and Ripple. Because it happened at a strange time and the message wasn’t clear, some people are worried that things aren’t transparent and that it could indicate market manipulation. Impact on the XRP market 
The XRP market, as of press time, has seen some changes after the release of 400 million XRP tokens. Currently, the price of XRP is $0.5387, which is down by 1.33% in the last day. The market cap is also down by 1.32%, standing at around $29.4 billion.&nbsp;
However, the volume of XRP traded in the last 24 hours has increased by 2.27%, reaching $721.7 million. This indicates some fluctuation in trading activity. The circulating supply of XRP remains at 54.6 billion tokens, as per data from CoinMarketCap.
The global market cap has reached $2 trillion, marking a 0.79% increase from the previous day. And, the total market volume over the last 24 hours has seen a slight decrease, down by 0.16% to $51.18 billion.
Interestingly, email conversations between <a href="https://news.todayq.com/is-bitcoins-creator-satoshi-nakamoto-an-individual-or-a-collective-entity-investigation-sheds-light/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Satoshi Nakamoto</a>, the creator of Bitcoin, and Martti Malmi, an early contributor to Bitcoin, have surfaced. In these emails, Nakamoto expresses admiration for the Ripple project, which was originally conceived by Ryan Fugger in 2004 as RipplePay.
This revelation sheds light on Nakamoto’s perspective on decentralized digital currency systems and their significance, even predating the emergence of Bitcoin.
