<p>In a realignment under its new CEO, <a href="https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/" data-type="URL" data-id="https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Mozilla Corp.,</a> the renowned creator of the Firefox web browser, has announced a workforce reduction of approximately 5%, translating to around 60 job cuts. The restructuring predominantly impacts the product development sector, which marks a crucial move for the company.</p> 
<p>Employees were notified of this decision on Tuesday.</p> 
<p>According to the company in a statement, “We’re scaling back investment in some product areas in order to focus on areas that we feel have the greatest chance of success.”</p> 
<p>The statement added, “We intend to re-prioritise resources against products like Firefox Mobile, where there’s a significant opportunity to grow and establish a better model for the industry.” </p>

<p>Elaborating on this, the job cut decision follows Laura Chambers’ appointment as CEO and is coming just a week <a href="https://blog.mozilla.org/en/mozilla/a-new-chapter-for-mozilla-laura-chambers-expanded-role/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">after her transition to the position.</a></p> 
<p>Chambers, a former executive at Airbnb Inc. and eBay Inc., had been serving on Mozilla’s board for the past three years. Meanwhile, Mitchell Baker, Mozilla’s longstanding chief, has transitioned to the role of executive chairman.</p>
