Outlier Ventures has announced the first cohort of the Futureverse Base Camp Accelerator Program. The seven selected companies were chosen from 500 applications worldwide. They include six pre-seed stage startups and one seed-stage startup.
Launched in October 2023, the 12-week accelerator program covers business building across product roadmap, community strategy, token design and economics, fundraising and more.
All the selected projects are aimed at accelerating the growth of the open metaverse by building on the Root Network, a decentralised blockchain optimised for <a href="https://www.nftgators.com/what-is-the-metaverse/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">the metaverse</a>. The selected teams will receive mentorship from industry leaders across multiple sectors, including gaming, the entertainment industry and AI.
The chosen startups Intraverse, Lifelike Digital, MintPass, Nucanon, Plurality, REKT Interactive and Spark, specialise in different segments of the open metaverse.
Intraverse is a gaming-as-a-service platform focused on user acquisition through <a href="https://www.nftgators.com/what-is-an-nft/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">NFTs</a>, IPs, brands and <a href="https://www.nftgators.com/what-is-a-blockchain-game/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">gaming</a>, while New Zealand-based Lifelike Digital develops realistic digital humans for the metaverse.&nbsp;
MintPass is a popular travel companion app that lets users earn rewards from their travel recommendations, while Plurality allows users to create web3 accounts by connecting their existing social profiles. On the other hand, Spark helps users experience a unified interface by connecting crypto and TradFi.
Collaborative game and narrative design software Nucanon and on-chain oracle and infrastructure platform REKT Interactive are also part of the inaugural cohort of the Futureverse Base Camp Accelerator.
Commenting on the announcement, Aaron McDonald and Shara Senderoff, Futureverse and Born Ready Co-Founders said in a statement: We believe the future is a collective vision and will be architected by the many visionaries who aim to revolutionize the internet as we know it. We’ll continue to support and back the teams paving the way for the technologies and ideas that will accelerate the development of the open metaverse and Web3 landscape.”
On the other hand, Blake Lezenski, Partner Program Director, Outlier Ventures highlighted the huge amount of interest in the program with 500 applications as a demonstration of “the momentum behind Futureverse, the aptitude of Open Metaverse technology builders as well as their infrastructure and rich IP ecosystem around The Root Network.”
“As long-running partners from the early stages of working with multiple layers of their ecosystem, we are now excited to kick off our program and work together to support the founders who will define the future of the Open Metaverse,” Lezenski said.
Last year, Futureverse raised $54 million in a Series A funding round led by 10T Holdings with participation from Ripple. The company has formed multiple partnerships with leading brands and organisations including Warner Brothers Discovery, Ready Player One, Reebok, Wimbledon, FIFA, and Mastercard, among others.
