United States President Joe Biden has unintentionally made himself a Bitcoin (<a href="https://cointelegraph.com/bitcoin-price">BTC</a>) ambassador after posting a laser-eye emblazoned picture of himself on his X and Instagram profiles.

Captioned “just like we drew it up,” the post was made in reference to the Kansas City Chiefs’ win over the San Fransico 49ers in the 2024 Super Bowl.
While many crypto enthusiasts initially took it to be a direct reference to or endorsement of Bitcoin, Biden’s new laser-eye profile picture uses the “Dark Brandon” meme to reference the conspiracy theory that the Super Bowl would be rigged to ensure that Taylor Swift’s boyfriend Travis Kelce’s team would win so that the pop superstar could then endorse Biden for president. 
The president’s social media team has embraced the Dark Brandon meme in the past as a way to make the aging Biden seem cool and edgy. The post sees Biden’s account joke that he really did plot the team’s win.
Crypto X was fast to react to the meme. Bankless asked what the post could mean for the ETH/BTC chart, while pseudonymous X user WhalePanda tacitly accused Biden of “cultural appropriation.”

It’s worth noting that the president has not endorsed any policies that slant in favor of Bitcoin or cryptocurrency more broadly, making it extremely unlikely that Biden would post endorsing a particular crypto asset.
According to Coinbase’s nonprofit advocacy organization Stand with Crypto, Biden is&nbsp;<a href="https://cointelegraph.com/news/18-us-senators-support-crypto-coinbase-stand-with-crypto">listed as being “against crypto,”</a> having made five public statements that skew toward a negative stance on digital assets.
The laser eyes phenomenon — typically used as a symbol for showcasing a bullish outlook on Bitcoin — kicked off as part of a movement across social media to drive Bitcoin’s price to $100,000 by the end of 2021, a goal that didn’t come to fruition. 
The most notable laser-eyed personalities once included NFL star <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/boston/news/tom-brady-changes-twitter-picture-to-laser-eyes-for-bitcoin/" target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow">Tom Brady</a>, <a href="https://twitter.com/ParisHilton/status/1378055896996093954?lang=en" target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow">Paris Hilton</a>&nbsp;and Elon Musk.&nbsp;
While Biden made a seemingly accidental nod to Bitcoin, Block — formerly Square — CEO Jack Dorsey was spotted in the stands at the Super Bowl with a much more direct reference to the digital asset.
Dorsey was seen sporting a Satoshi T-shirt designed in a similar style to a series of popular Nirvana tees, featuring a&nbsp;smiley face used on the band’s concept design of their 1991 album Nevermind.&nbsp;
