<p style="text-align: justify">Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo highlighted the consortium’s objective to facilitate collaboration among AI developers, users, educational bodies, research institutions from government and industry, as well as civil organizations. The aim is to ensure the creation of AI technologies that are both secure and trustworthy.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify">The US administration is actively involved in crafting standards and producing resources essential for mitigating risks while maximizing the promising benefits of AI. <p style="text-align: justify">AISIC’s responsibilities extend to establishing team-building guidelines, assessing AI competencies, managing risks, ensuring safety, and securing and watermarking synthetic media. The consortium boasts over 200 members, featuring industry titans like Microsoft, Google, Meta, and Apple, as well as AI-focused entities such as OpenAI and Anthropic. The collaboration spans industry giants, non-profits, and government entities from allied nations, fostering the formation of the most extensive test and evaluation community to date.</p>
<h2 id="initiative-and-presidential-actions">Initiative and Presidential Actions</h2>
<p style="text-align: justify">This initiative builds on the foundation of the United States AI Security Institute (USAISI), which itself is the result of an executive order by President Biden regarding AI security from late October 2023. Raimondo emphasizes that Biden’s directive is instrumental in maintaining the US’s leading position in constructing and applying secure, responsible AI technologies.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify">The White House’s Deputy Chief of Staff, Bruce Reed, has stated the importance of swift and unified progression in the AI domain by both public and private sectors, including academia. Following the recent White House AI Council meeting, it has been reported that the US has met, if not surpassed, the initial three-month goals set by the executive order.</p>
