ARK 21Shares has made changes to their spot Ether ETF application in order to implement a cash-creation approach, which is comparable to their authorized spot Bitcoin ETF. Additionally, they have also hinted to stake some of the ETF’s Ether in order to produce more revenue.
After many conversations with the U.S SEC, ARK 21Shares and <a href="https://thenewscrypto.com/blackrocks-spot-bitcoin-etf-surpasses-2-billion-aum-milestone/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">BlackRock</a> were among the first issuers to switch their spot Bitcoin (BTC) ETFs to a cash generation and redemption mechanism in December 2023.

ARK 21Shares’ spot Ether (ETH) ETF formerly had an in-kind redemption strategy, which means that non-monetary assets like Bitcoin could be redeemed. As part of the cash creates concept, ARK 21Shares would buy <a href="https://thenewscrypto.com/ethereum-price-shows-signs-of-bullish-reversal-how-high-can-eth-go/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Ether</a> with the amount of the order and then deposit it into the trust’s custodian account. The next step is to establish shares of the spot Ethereum ETF.
The revisions, as stated in its most recent Form S-1 amendment filed on Feb. 7, now “bring it in line” with authorized spot Bitcoin ETFs, according to Bloomberg ETF analyst <a href="https://twitter.com/EricBalchunas?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Eric Balchunas</a>.
The Cathie Wood-led organization has admitted that the cash creates model might have a negative impact on the arbitrage trades that authorized players are trying to do in order to maintain a tight relationship between the share price and Ether.
A staking component for the issuer’s spot Ether ETF is also proposed in the most recent S-1 filing. The cold vault balance of the trust would be staked by <a href="https://ark-funds.com/funds/arkb/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">ARK 21Shares</a>, and the trust would get staking rewards, which are like revenue.
