The Beijing Municipal Development and Reform Commission, in collaboration with 11 other departments, has published a rigorous notice. The notice pledges allegiance to a dual control system aimed at managing energy use and curbing carbon emissions, aligning with the broader vision of constructing an eco-friendly and 'beautiful' Beijing, according to <a href="https://crypto.news/beijing-crypto-mining-energy-conservation-plan/">Crypto</a>. 
This initiative is not merely a reiteration of China's existing anti-crypto stance but rather an enhanced, targeted approach to minimize the energy-intensive nature of crypto mining. The plan outlines a precise strategy to intensify scrutiny, analysis, and rectification of mining activities, particularly targeting the eradication of virtual currency 'mining' activities in accordance with national guidelines. 
The ramifications of this policy are anticipated to drive mining operations either underground or out of Chinese jurisdiction as the country continues to strive for energy efficiency and carbon neutrality. This move echoes the aftermath of the original 2021 crypto mining ban, which saw a significant migration of Bitcoin mining to the United States. 
Coinciding with China's tightened measures, the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) is also stepping up. The EIA announced a new initiative to monitor the power usage of cryptocurrency mining facilities to better understand their impact on the U.S. energy framework. Endorsed by the White House Office of Management and Budget, this initiative emerges amidst growing concerns over the environmental toll of crypto mining operations.
