<p data-beyondwords-marker="9d6d9767-3eaf-41b2-983d-39039c790de7">The year 2023 could be described as a pragmatic lift-off for <a href="https://www.instagram.com/alxnigeria/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">ALX Nigeria</a> in the digital technology space. The leading tech accelerator scored crucial impact points after it delivered numerous training programmes geared towards the employability of unskilled Nigerian youths.&nbsp;</p> 
<p data-beyondwords-marker="574f2404-a940-4e5a-bdfb-6c52d34be2ac">Last year was a remarkable year for Nigeria’s tech ecosystem. Despite the dip in venture funding, massive lay-offs, and liquidation among start-ups; the year ushered in promising political appointments and national policies that seem to drive innovation and growth in technological sectors positively.&nbsp;</p> 
<p data-beyondwords-marker="bef81960-011c-4731-b5e2-0f9f67f43cdb">During the year in review, ALX was visible on political platforms as it partnered with the vision of the Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy to train 3 million technical talents in four years.&nbsp;</p>

<p data-beyondwords-marker="3d776cdc-8faf-4f13-b497-3fba0db246c4">From the summary of the activity report, ALX Nigeria continues to provide leadership in tech training as it received over 153,559 applications to its different programmes including Software Engineering, Data Analytics, AWS Cloud Computing and Salesforce Administration with only a total acceptance of 14,512.</p> 
<p data-beyondwords-marker="f0210e6f-d050-4960-83df-610afd013e3a">The organisation boasts of one of the best and most rigorous training structures on the continent and still manages to retain at least 11,962 current learners across Nigeria’s 36 states and the FCT by the end of 2023.</p>

<p data-beyondwords-marker="9ddfad9a-6ee7-4071-83a7-05265494eb33">The chart above shows a closely even distribution in demographics with more male learners edging their female counterparts by just 20 percent. Age distributions favour the 24 – 29 range, which aligns with the ALX vision of training young ethical African youths for tech leadership and entrepreneurship.</p>

<p data-beyondwords-marker="09a5ff77-1bb5-46f1-b4e1-6784ee1e3c34">Reports say at least eighty per cent of those who register for online tech programmes do not either start all or finish them. Nonetheless, ALX Nigeria employs active community engagement among learners and fellows to sustain interest through peer learning. With over 45,000 active community members, the organisation graduated an impressive 2,550 members in 2023 with 1,070 Data analysts and 1,400 software engineers set to graduate in 2024.</p> 
<p data-beyondwords-marker="a3b205a3-4cb8-42b4-af41-a10e3a67411f">True to its word, ALX showed genuine commitment and social responsibility to its host community in the past year.</p> 
<p data-beyondwords-marker="87af7129-e1ad-4999-88cf-92ce68b35f59">The company hosted over 150 social events targeted at empowering youths with the requisite tech skills for future work. Notable among these events was a special visit to secondary schools in the Surulere area of Lagos to sensitize the students on the early development of employability skills.</p>

As the new year dawns, it is interesting to see ALX unveil more dynamic and innovative programmes to better equip the youths in Nigeria for the future of work.</p>
