Fred Thiel, the company's chairman and CEO, highlighted this milestone as a transformation into a more sophisticated entity with a diverse portfolio in Bitcoin mining. Now possessing around 910 megawatts of mining capacity, Marathon balances its assets between direct ownership (45%) and third-party <a href="https://ultramining.com/news/en/bitcoin-mining-reshaping-landscape-amid-global-interest-surge/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">hosting</a> (55%). Thiel's ambitious vision includes ramping up operations to a staggering 50 exahashes of capacity over the next 18-24 months, leveraging state-of-the-art technologies to boost efficiencies.
David Hirsch, Principal at Generate Capital, expressed confidence in Marathon's capabilities to manage the Kearney and Granbury <a href="https://ultramining.com/news/en/crypto-miners-shift-gears-ai-is-the-new-gold-rush/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">data centers</a>, two of North America's most efficient and largest controllable load resource assets. This transaction not only showcases Generate's operational prowess but also Marathon's strategic positioning to optimize these assets for their stakeholders.
