Upland, a web3 strategy game with over three million accounts, distributed over $13.5 million to players’ PayPal accounts in December 2023. 
In a press release, Upland said this pointed to their commitment to empowering players with real-world value through virtual experiences.

Players can earn revenue through gameplay, strategic investments, and creations within Upland. This can be converted into Upland’s in-game currency (UPX) or directly withdrawn into USD via PayPal. 
Upland’s partnership with Tilia, a payment platform designed specifically for the GameFi industry, processed these payments. Their involvement allowed Upland to bridge the gap between the virtual and real worlds. 
Moreover, Upland remained compliant with U.S. regulations, providing a secure and trusted environment for users to explore metaverse opportunities.

Upland plans to launch Sparklet on Ethereum in Q1 2024. 
“Upland is the leading entrepreneurial and creator economic hub in web3,” asserted Dirk Lueth, co-founder and co-CEO of Upland. “With over 3 million registered users and the largest active participation in the space, we have built a thriving, immersive digital economy. The recent milestone reflects the strength of our P2P community and indicates the power of GameFi and true ownership.” 
Part of Upland’s success involved striking partnerships with <a href="https://crypto.news/upland-launches-fifa-womens-world-cup-experience-in-metaverse/" data-type="post" data-id="14179923">FIFA</a>, the NFL Players Association, UNICEF Brasil, and Susan G. Komen. 
The platform also recently launched Totems and raised an additional $7 million in Q4 2023.
