<a href="https://ultramining.com/news/en/cleanspark-doubles-down-on-bitcoin-mining-with-55m-expansion/">CleanSpark</a>, a prominent U.S. bitcoin mining firm, is making a bold move in the cryptocurrency mining industry with a substantial investment of $193 million in <a href="https://ultramining.com/en/manufacturers/bitmain/">Bitmain</a>'s latest Antminer S21s. This strategic purchase is set to significantly boost CleanSpark's proprietary hashing power by 12 EH/s, marking a crucial step in the ongoing technological arms race in bitcoin mining, according to <a href="https://theminermag.com/news/2024-01-08/cleanspark-bitcoin-miner-s21-bitmain-193-million/">TheMinerMag</a>. 
Based in Georgia, CleanSpark has also secured an option to acquire an additional 100,000 units of the <a href="https://ultramining.com/en/hardware/antminer-s21-200-ths/">Antminer S21</a> model at a fixed price of $16 per TH/s within this year. This potential expansion could further increase the company's capacity by an impressive 20 EH/s. 
This latest acquisition follows CleanSpark's September announcement of procuring 4 EH/s in Bitmain’s S21s, which were obtained at a lower price of $14/TH/s. The initial batch of 60,000 units from the new purchase is expected to be delivered in Q2, enhancing CleanSpark’s existing operational hashing power of 10 EH/s. 
CleanSpark's CEO Zachary Bradford highlighted the strategic nature of this investment. He emphasized that the call purchase option serves as a hedge against potential price increases of mining machines, ensuring the company's readiness to capitalize on the next bull market without the burden of fluctuating equipment costs. 
The decision to opt for Bitmain’s S21 model over the T21 was made after rigorous real-world testing, prioritizing efficiency in CleanSpark's operations. This move comes amidst a notable market rally for bitcoin since December, which has led to increasing prices for future and spot stocks of Bitmain’s S21 and S19K Pro models. 
CleanSpark, already the third-largest public bitcoin mining company by realized proprietary <a href="https://ultramining.com/news/en/impending-bitcoin-halving-may-trigger-major-hashrate-decline-say-experts/">hashrate</a> in December with 9.96 EH/s, is positioning itself for a robust future in the bitcoin mining sector.
