<p class="p1" style="text-align: justify">Weeks after the co-founder of the Russia-based crypto exchange Bitzlato accepted a court’s decision to cease the exchange’s operations in Brooklyn, a notable development occurred. Consequently, the Bitzlato team announced that it had to temporarily suspend <a href="https://en.coin-turk.com/a-possible-scenario-for-bitcoin-price-and-analyst-comment-will-bitcoin-rise/" data-wpel-link="internal">Bitcoin</a> withdrawal transactions in light of these developments.</p> 
<h2 class="p1" style="text-align: justify" id="what-s-happening-in-the-bitzlato-case">What’s Happening in the Bitzlato Case?</h2> 
<p class="p1" style="text-align: justify">The crypto exchange shared a post on its Telegram channel on December 27th, stating that this step was only a temporary measure and that the exchange’s users were preparing for upcoming legal hearings in France concerning seized assets.</p> 
<p class="p1" style="text-align: justify">However, on December 6th, Bitzlato’s former CEO Anatoly Legkodymov agreed to cease all operations of Bitzlato and to forfeit $23 million worth of crypto assets as part of a criminal complaint dealing with operating an unlicensed crypto exchange.</p> 
<p class="p1" style="text-align: justify">Anatoly Legkodymov was arrested in January of this year in Miami as part of a raid conducted jointly by the United States Department of Justice, the Treasury Department, and French law enforcement, which resulted in the seizure of most of the exchange’s infrastructure, including its website.</p>

<p class="p1" style="text-align: justify">Despite the seizure of the platform and its assets, the Bitzlato team managed to partially restore access to user funds in March, allowing users to withdraw 50% of their assets on the platform through a Telegram bot. The firm continued to increase the amount users could withdraw, permitting the withdrawal of 70% of their assets in November.</p> 
<p class="p1" style="text-align: justify">United States Attorney Breon Peace accused the crypto exchange of being openly used by criminals, while the DOJ claimed it was a significant <a href="https://newslinker.co/category/finance/" data-wpel-link="exclude">financial</a> source for the Hydra darknet market and allowed users to direct funds, including those obtained from ransomware attacks.</p> 
<p class="p1" style="text-align: justify">Since the FTX bankruptcy process in 2022, significant measures continue to be taken against crypto platforms. Legal regulatory processes are causing many crypto exchanges to cease operations, with regulations playing a crucial role in ensuring the security of user funds.</p>
