In a significant move to bolster the bitcoin <a href="https://ultramining.com/news/en/texas-residents-challenge-bitcoin-mining-industrys-impact-on-power-grid-and-communities/">mining industry</a> in Africa, the Green Africa Mining Alliance (GAMA) has launched a Seed Program, targeting the influx of new miners across the continent. GAMA's initiative offers a helping hand by providing equipment and necessary resources, addressing the prominent challenges faced by small-scale individual miners. These challenges range from limited expertise, understanding of legal and energy regulations, to difficulties in acquiring crypto <a href="https://ultramining.com/news/en/immersion-cooling-transforms-chinas-crypto-mining-landscape/">mining equipment</a>, according to <a href="https://www.forbes.com/sites/digital-assets/2023/12/22/gama-launch-bitcoin-mining-seed-program-to-help-new-african-miners/">Forbes</a>. 
GAMA's Seed Program is designed to unite miners, especially those using renewable energy sources, under a common goal. The program is currently accepting online applications, offering access to five refurbished ASICs at a discounted price, with the applicants covering the shipping and clearance costs. Successful applicants who demonstrate effective <a href="https://ultramining.com/news/en/bitcoin-miners-set-for-a-tough-ride-as-2024-halving-nears-jp-morgan/">hash rate</a> can later access ten additional ASICs under similar terms. 
This program is a game-changer, significantly lowering the entry barrier for overwhelmed miners. It's part of GAMA's broader efforts to connect the bitcoin mining community in Africa through various events and workshops, like the AfroBitcoin Conference and the Africa Bitcoin Mining Summit. 
The bitcoin mining landscape in Africa is rapidly evolving. With new mining pools like DEMAND and <a href="https://ultramining.com/news/en/innovative-mining-pool-ocean-launches-with-jack-dorseys-backing/">OCEAN</a> emerging, coupled with increasing capital investment and interest, Africa is fast becoming a significant player in the global Bitcoin mining arena. Currently, Africa contributes 1% to the global Bitcoin mining hash rate, but with these developments, it's poised for significant growth. 
2024 is shaping up to be a pivotal year for bitcoin mining in Africa, highlighting the continent's potential as a leading destination for the industry, particularly in green bitcoin mining. This expansion not only underscores Africa's growing influence in the global mining sector but also signals the bright future of bitcoin mining on the continent.&nbsp;
