Tracing back to December 2020, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filed a <a href="https://coinedition.com/sec-lawsuit-affected-ripples-growth-says-flare-ceo-hugo-philon/">lawsuit</a> against Ripple, <a href="https://www.sec.gov/news/press-release/2020-338" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">accusing</a> the platform and its key executives of being involved in “conducting $1.3 billion unregistered security offerings.” However, following long struggles, Ripple secured a landmark <a href="https://coinedition.com/ripple-ceo-brad-garlinghouse-is-overwhelmed-by-landmark-xrp-victory/">victory</a> against the regulators in July 2023, when Judge Analisa Torres concluded Ripple’s XRP was a non-security.
