Ultra, a PC marketplace catering to both <a href="https://optimisus.com/news/blockchain-news/web3-gaming-platform-immutable-integrates-transak-for-seamless-fiat-and-web3-payments/">blockchain</a> and traditional "Web2" video games, is set to introduce a groundbreaking feature—launching the first digital PC game that can be resold to other users via a tokenized license.   
The feature will debut with the game "Josh Journey: Darkness Totems," a beat-'em-up title developed by Provincia Studio.   
Notably, this move aligns with Ultra's commitment to creating a platform where users can legally resell digital games, offering developers a share of the resale price.   
Scheduled for launch on Wednesday, the feature will enable users to list Josh Journey for resale on Ultra's secondary marketplace, and upon purchase, the tokenized license represented by an NFT (Ultra calls it "Uniq") will be transferred to the new owner, granting them the legal right to play the game.   
Developers supporting this optional feature will have control over aspects such as royalty share and minimum resale price.   
The tokenized license is built on the Ultra Layer-1 blockchain, a fork of the EOS network. The move comes at a time when the gaming industry is predominantly digital, eliminating the ability to resell digital games on traditional platforms.   
Ultra aims to establish a digital resale standard through tokenization, benefiting developers and players.   
Nicolas Gilot, co-founder and co-CEO of Ultra, expressed excitement about Josh Journey becoming the first tradable title on Ultra Games.   
He emphasized that tokenization enables transferability and traceability, subject to the developer's or publisher's permission, and highlighted its potential to create fairness and additional value across various digital content forms.   
Ultra plans to explore additional functionalities such as token-gated benefits, allowing developers to offer exclusive content, discounts on future games, and access to esports competitions.   
This move by Ultra represents an experimental and innovative step toward harnessing blockchain technology's potential in the gaming industry.
