 <p>According to a recent study, Canadian interest in cryptocurrency investments has greatly diminished compared to the previous year. Currently, Canadians are less inclined to see cryptocurrencies as a significant factor in the economy or to foresee them becoming more important in the future, with the percentage of those regretting buying crypto rising from 68% in 2022 to 77% this year.</p>

 <p>The Canada Operation Support Centre (OSC) shared the findings of the notable “<a href="https://en.coin-turk.com/bitcoins-critical-moment-price-surges-to-all-time-high-what-does-it-mean/" data-wpel-link="internal" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Crypto</a> Assets Survey 2023″ on November 29. The survey, conducted in May this year in collaboration with Ipsos, included 2,360 Canadians representing a proportional cross-section of the population in terms of gender, age, and region. The most significant finding of the research is the growing skepticism towards cryptocurrencies in the country.</p>

 <p>The most important finding from the study is the decline in Canadian crypto investments from last year. While this rate was 13% in 2022, it fell to 10% in 2023. Demographically, the majority of crypto <a href="https://newslinker.co/category/finance/" data-wpel-link="exclude" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">investors</a> in the country consist of full-time employed males, with graduate education, aged between 25-44. According to the research, the proportion of Canadians who could make a basic definition of cryptocurrency increased from 51% in 2022 to 54% in 2023. However, the belief that cryptocurrencies will play a significant role in the future has dropped from 49% in 2022 to 34% in 2023.</p>
 <p>77% of the survey participants expressed regret for purchasing cryptocurrencies over a year ago. This rate was 68% in 2022. The most common reason for buying cryptocurrencies in both 2023 and 2022 was speculative investment or gambling. Moreover, the proportion of those viewing cryptocurrencies as a long-term investment decreased from 29% in 2022 to 20% in 2023.</p>
 <h2 id="canadians-continue-to-use-centralized-crypto-exchanges">Canadians Continue to Use Centralized Crypto Exchanges</h2>
 <p>Centralized crypto exchanges (CEXs) remain the most commonly used platforms for purchasing <a href="https://en.coin-turk.com/bitcoin-ordinals-protocol-changing-code-system-a-proposal-from-the-founder/" data-wpel-link="internal" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Bitcoin</a> (BTC) and altcoins, with a 52% usage rate among Canadians. 19% of the respondents bought their cryptocurrencies from a decentralized crypto exchange (DEX), 16% through mining or staking, 14% for free, 14% through token production or ICOs, and another 14% through friends, family, or colleagues.</p>
 <p>In 2023, the rate of purchasing crypto through a DEX or ATM saw a particularly higher increase among individuals aged 18-34 compared to 2022. The rate of buying cryptocurrencies through a DEX rose from 18% in 2022 to 25% in 2023. The rate of buying cryptocurrencies via crypto ATMs went up from 8% in 2022 to 15% in 2023.</p>
