 <p>According to a recent study, Canadian interest in cryptocurrency investments has significantly decreased compared to the previous year. Currently, Canadians are less inclined to see cryptocurrencies as an important factor in the economy or to foresee their increased significance in the future, with the proportion of those regretting buying cryptocurrencies rising from 68% in 2022 to 77% this year.</p>
 <h2 id="strong-key-findings-from-the-cryptocurrency-study-strong"><strong>Key Findings from the Cryptocurrency Study</strong></h2>
 <p>The Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) released the findings of the notable “Crypto Assets Survey 2023” on November 29. Conducted in May of this year in collaboration with Ipsos, the survey included 2,360 Canadians and represented a proportional segment of the population in terms of gender, age, and region. The most significant finding of the study is the increased skepticism towards cryptocurrencies in the country.</p>

 <p>One of the most critical findings is the decrease in Canadian cryptocurrency investments since last year. The percentage decreased from 13% in 2022 to 10% in 2023. Demographically, the majority of cryptocurrency <a href="https://newslinker.co/category/finance/" data-wpel-link="exclude" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">investors</a> in the country are full-time employed, postgraduate educated males between the ages of 25-44. The survey also revealed that the percentage of Canadians who can make a basic definition of cryptocurrency increased from 51% in 2022 to 54% in 2023. However, the belief that cryptocurrencies will play a significant role in the future has dropped from 49% in 2022 to 34% in 2023.</p>
 <p>77% of survey participants expressed regret for purchasing cryptocurrencies more than a year ago, an increase from 68% in 2022. The main reasons for purchasing cryptocurrencies in 2023 and 2022 were speculative investment or gambling. Moreover, the proportion of those who view cryptocurrencies as a long-term investment fell from 29% in 2022 to 20% in 2023.</p>
 <h2 id="strong-canadians-continue-to-use-centralized-crypto-exchanges-strong"><strong>Canadians Continue to Use Centralized Crypto Exchanges</strong></h2>
 <p>Centralized crypto exchanges (CEXs) remain the most commonly used platforms for Canadians to buy <a href="https://en.coin-turk.com/googles-artificial-intelligence-indicates-a-price-range-of-40000-to-60000-for-bitcoin-in-2024/" data-wpel-link="internal" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Bitcoin</a> (BTC) and altcoins, with a 52% usage rate. 19% of participants reported purchasing their cryptocurrencies from a decentralized crypto exchange (DEX), 16% through mining or staking, 14% for free, 14% through token generation or ICOs, and another 14% via friends, family, or colleagues.</p>
 <p>In 2023, the rate of purchasing cryptocurrencies through a DEX or ATM has particularly increased among individuals aged 18-34 compared to 2022. The percentage of those buying cryptocurrencies via a DEX rose from 18% in 2022 to 25% in 2023, while the rate of purchases through crypto ATMs increased from 8% in 2022 to 15% in 2023.</p>
